The strength of Swedens public finances is now being drawn upon to put more money in the pockets of hard-working people. This can inspire belief in the future and bring the economic downturn to an end. With the Governments reforms, a family with two children will have an additional SEK 1 800 per month. The Budget includes reforms totalling almost SEK 80 billion, and is based on an agreement between the Government and the Sweden Democrats.

New package for stronger civil defence

Security in Swedens neighbourhood has deteriorated dramatically in recent years. The Government is therefore carrying out the most sweeping modernisation of Swedens total defence since the end of the Cold War. In the Budget Bill for 2026, the Tid Parties propose a new package for stronger civil defence. Funding will go towards better stockpiling of health care products, renovating Swedens protective shelters, building up new food contingency reserves and improving preparedness efforts of Swedens municipalities and regions. The Government proposes allocating SEK 3 billion to civil defence in 2026, SEK 4.2 billion in 2027 and SEK 4.6 billion in 2028. These proposals total approximately SEK 12 billion in 20262028.

The Government presents defence investments for a stronger Sweden

The prevailing security situation is more serious than it has been in several decades, and Russia constitutes a multi-dimensional threat to Sweden. The Government is therefore implementing historic investments in defence. Together with previous budgetary expansions, appropriations increase by SEK 26.6 billion in the Budget Bill for 2026. This corresponds to an increase of 18 per cent over 2025. These proposals and increases broadly strengthen Swedens defence capability.

New military support package to Ukraine worth over SEK 9 billion

The Government has presented its 20th military support package to Ukraine, at a value of approximately SEK 9.2 billion.

Sweden is now increasing its military support to Ukraine to put greater pressure on Russia. More Archers, drones, and ammunition will make a difference on the battlefield. Europes right to peace and freedom must be defended, says Minister for Defence Pl Jonson.
